LAKE BASIN PACK-IN CAMPS
Island
Lake pack-in camp is in the heart of the spectac-ular Flat Tops
Wilderness at an elevation of 11,200 feet. It’s a four-hour
ride from base camp up Middle Derby Creek. Memories of a lifetime
are made here. Guests are surrounded by the unspeakable beauty,
peace, and tranquility of the vast wilder-ness as they experience
the traditional timberline camp lifestyle.
Views
from camp are spectacular and include Sheep Mountain and Derby
Peak. From camp, we can take you to the perfect spot for a
once-in-a-lifetime photo. You may also have the opportunity
to photograph elk, bighorn sheep and bear in their natural
habitat. The meadows alive with the blooms of high country
wildflowers are beautiful.
Camp
consists of heavy-duty wall tents with canvas floors and rain
flies. There are two guest tents that accommodate up to five
each and they are equipped with cots, foam pads, wood stove,
firewood, wash stand with pans and mirror, and a rack for
drying wet clothes when needed. There is a separate cook tent,
guides and wranglers tent, latrine tent, tack tent and a solar
shower tent.
Island
Lake Pack-In is a comfortable, full-service guided camp with
everything furnished except your personal gear and sleeping
bag. With it as our hub, we ride each day, returning in the
evenings. And as is the case with all our guided services,
delicious home-style meals are complete and plentiful.
